Default 102 vs 110 octane

I have found both in my home town and I am trying to decide if it is worth an extra $2.00 dollars a gallon to get the 110 octane.

I plan to get my car on the Dyno at 944 fest and make one glory run.

What do you think?

the 110 is leaded so you dont want to run 100% 110 or it may foul your injectors. damage the cat and the o2 sensors. you can spike your 102 with a few gal of 110 if you want and it should be fine. I know people who do it at the track without issue.

it depends on what your car is tuned to run on. Are you going to tune the car on the dyno or do you just want to see what it pulls? If you just want to see what it pulls run what you always run and dont mess with 110. If you are going to tune it on the dyno run the fuel you will run in the car all the time.

110 octane is leaded so unless your doing a track day running at wot keeping the heat up so it doesn't foul out the o2 sensor or clog the cat.. stick to a fuel that is unleaded or don't run full leaded gasoline.

I asked the lady at the station and she told me both the 102 and the 110 were unleaded?

I assume the car had been tuned for 93 octane. I run the car at 18lbs of boost. I was going to just crank it up to 20 or 21 and see what she would do.

Thats why I was trying to decide on 102 or 110.

Bad idea?

You will be fine 102. 110 would be if you were trying to push 30psi of boost.

If you really want to get to 110, you could buy 102 and add the proper amount of xzylene/tuolene to get to the number.
I'd just run 102. That's plenty.

The 110 at the track has always been leaded. You better check again before you buy. If the car is tuned for street gas, it is very unlikely that you will see much better perfomace from 102 or 110 and 110 leaded is a bad idea for a car not tuned for leaded gas.

FWIW, I saw 2 hp gain with 100 vs 93 on my stock S2 race car, but it is hard to say if it was due to the gas because the second pull on 93 was 2 hp higher than the first.

Good luck

If you go to the Fest, it will be very tempting to crank the boost for that glory run. That said, buy the extra insurance and do a blend of 102 and something, whether thats xylene or 110. If you use xylene, make sure you run the car in a very open area, for that stuff is killer on your lungs. I've used tons of it so I know. Anyway good luck at the Fest.

Just so you guys know, there is a 110 leaded pump at the Speedway off the I-71 exit to Mid Ohio now.
