Default The Keithr726 body project thread UPDATE BACK FROM PAINT pg3

As some may know I spun my 951 in late may. The damage is enough to total the car but its more of a sentimental thing to me and I don't want a total on my insurance. I planned for it to be done my the end of June but I had huge family problems develop which limited my available time to work on the car or come on rennlist.

I'm working with a body shop to keep the costs down however the total is going to be the purchase price of the car. I guess the turbo and clutch I had planned this summer just isn't going to happen.

The plan is I'm responsible for disassembly and reassembly of the car after its finished with paint. The shop responsible for straightening the frame, body panel repair, and paint. I'd like to lower the cost more by doing the prep work but honestly I have no experience in autobody work. Perhaps someone could enlighten me?

When shes done she'll have a new look including 968 handles and mirrors, bumper pad delete bumper, new tint, clear lens, plate relocated back to stock location, and possibly a vented nose panel(heard a lot of horror stories about these).

The shop seems to think they can repair the fender, bumper cover and nose panel. Damn, I wanted a vented nose panel. We'll see.

I'm also looking for a left side portion of the lower rear spoiler.

These is where it stands currently...

I HATE YOU! I want to do both of those mods to my car, then a 968 spoiler and my exterior will be complete.

I've always planned on getting a nice set of wheels but after my accident I figured this would be the right time for body mods. Expect one more surprise in the next week. . Basically I'm getting a great deal on all my parts. Prices to be disclosed later. . I almost bought a hatch from a 91 S2 a couple months ago for $300 but at the time I couldn't spend that, it would have been a great deal though.

I hope those zip lock baggies help but I dunno at this point.

Coming along. Got the Gt racing fiberglass bumper and replacement fender (thanks John) to the body shop. Also got a taillight (thanks plyhammer) and clear lens for them.

Electric and only $300 from sunset. I'm pretty sure that beats other prices by at least $100.
