Advice time
I ran at Limerock yesterday and first must say it was HOT!!!! It hit 106 degrees
The car is a turbo s with a new engine, chip.... but nothing too major, and runs perfectly with the temp gage in normal driving at half way. However yesterday after 15 mins of the run session my temp gauge was starting to touch the red!!!!![EEK!](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I know it was hot and I was driving it hard but what can I do to prevent this in the future?
Bigger oil cooler? (type and location of fitting?)
Bigger radiator???
would a louvered fiberglass bonnet make any difference?
PS all fluids were fine

I had a high heat problem a couple years ago at the track during 100+ outside temps also so what I did was modify my fan relay to make both fans turn on at high speed when it would normally just click on the one main fan. If you pull out your fan relay from the fuse box, you will see the bottom of it has the plugs labeled. What I did was simply solder a jumper wire from pin M1 to M2 then plugged.

You can check to see if both are running by letting the car idle and get up to temp. As it warms up the fans should kick on low speed automatically.
The other thing you can do is back flush the radiator and A/C condensor (run water through the fins back to front). Make sure there is not an excess buildup of dead leaves / insects impeding air flow.
It was indeed hot as heck yesterday in the tri-state area. I was going to auto-x my 951 but decided against it due to the heat.
The other slightly easier test is to jump the pins on the fan switch plug. This will be a PITA if you still have the stock airbox in place, but shouldnt be bad if you have a MAF behind the headlight.

tried to check earlier... hot day, car got up to normal temp (mid point on temp gauge) and I had one fan, the passenger side one working however the drivers side was not on. Turned car off and the passenger side operated for about 2 mins.
Should both be on?

well I checked the connection and that was ok. Step 2 I changed over fuses 10 and 15 and low and behold the drivers fan works but not the passenge. UREKA!!! found the issue and it was as simple as a fuse
Thanks for everyones patience as I have never worked on a car before but with your help I am learning everyday!
