weight can make a lot of difference. 2500 w/me in it, 420@wheels(god willing) is a 5.95:1 power to weight. So assuming a you weigh around 200? less now? 3000lbs divided by 5.95 = 504hp needed at your wheels to match. or with my everyday low boost (360whp) = 6.94lbs/hp means 3000/6.94=432whp needed to keep up.

yeah the latter is what im hoping for. 430hp on high boost would be great vs you on pump gas a mid 300's. I think it would be a good run.

See if you can really make it. It'd be nice to put a face with a name and have a 951vs951 shootout that didn't end with bickering.

heck we need 951 videos. I'm hoping to help out with that some.

What sort of electronic boost controller are you using? I have been thinking of giving the Apexi unit a try to get rpm based boost control. I am going to be running in NASA GTS which is classed based on hp/weight which rewards flat hp/tq curves. I have been thinking of trying to use the rpm based boost control to start the boost high and then taper it off to try to flatten out the curve and maximize the area under the curve while still staying below my max hp which will only be about 320 rwhp (car should weigh about 2600 with me in it.)

mine is the old GRedddy profec b. the one with larger solenoid. rock solid boost every time.
The one you're talking about is a perfect solution to you class. awesome idea.

And, If you're going to put a car away until another season. It's a nice margin of safety even with Ethanol.
He was working on Indy car engines a couple of years ago so they were running Methanol. He though it would be a good idea to do with Ethanol unless you were sure all the components were Ethanol compatible. He also was concerned about the water dissolved in Ethanol effecting metal parts over time. It is a new fuel so time will tell. Just though I would pass along his comments.

Bruce,

Glad to see it it up and running. I am very much looking forward to you results and timing and fuel data.

Unfortunately I am not even doing power tuning right now and the last few weeks. I have been driving (saving fuel) and doing bodywork as i go... ugh. Makes for a slow process.

My wife has decided that it is a good idea to carpool now and the turbo car is the best on fuel so ..thats where I am now .

Get to it. You're slacking.

A clutch install, and a run to the track. You and George.

Seriously though, the TURBO is the most efficient car. That's funny. No toyota prius in the stable eh?

I think there are a couple more days to go on the tuning. Hopefully Wednesday and Friday. I'm stopping by ProTechnik tomorrow morning to try and nail down some dates and times. Also armed with a little more tuning info from the internet. Dangerous yes. but some things I've weeded out as possible. The dyno and headgasket will tell.
Great news is.... NO LEAN SPOT! (of course) but it plagued me for almost 5 months.

damn...I hope im not in lala land with my own hopes for hp.
Talked to Sam today. He said we were still 5degrees retarded while he was working out fuel, and that he hasn't gotten it leaned out to .8 lambda yet.

So... ok. 300-320 @15psi. Dyno on Friday will tell for sure.

GREAT TO HEAR!!

so hopefully I can hit 360-370.

How much boost can you safely run on pump fuel? I'm trying to run the most I can. Right now 18psi seems like a good figure and I know i'll have the fuel. I just don't know enough about the software and what will happen with timing retard to make a accurate judgement on just how much boost is safe to run on 93 octane.

e85 ofcourse i'll be alot more liberal.

I'm really hoping the cam+head I have will help my numbers some.
With my Super 75 and chips not really for the set up at the time, I did about 310whp on 18psi with old Huntley MAF and 3" cat back.

So with a really good tune you could hit 350whp with 18psi.
