Default Can you change the oil temp thermostat "in the car"?

Question: If I wanted to swap out my oil temp thermostat, can I just undo the plug on the housing and change it? Or would swapping require something more extensive such as pulling the entire oil filter housing?

Trying to assess the level of effort to change it out.

TIA!

Jeff

Thanks Dave.

No, I don't think mine is bad. I would like to put in the later model unit that lowers opening temp from 105 to 95. Having oil temp issues on track, working to lower the temps.

A lower temp thermostat + a larger oil cooler is in the works.

Step one will be the lower temp thremostat while I work on an RX7 oil cooler solution.
