Default Dash wiring Q

Does anyone know if there is another connector for the dash down stream from the backside of the dash? In other words, the harness is plugged into the back of the dash display, but nothing on the dash is working. Someone mentioned they thought there was another connector for the dash functions further down the harness. Interior is stripped of everything not needed for a race car i.e.: no HVAC, radio, accessories etc.

There is a plug on the DME from the cluster and you might check fuse #18.

Did you start cutting out those wires to the "not needed" items?

No, didn't cut any wires. We've just taken out all the HVAC, radio etc. So most everything except DME/KLR and the dash are out. The wiring harness however is intact except for the parts that we unplugged belonging to the items removed. Its just the tach and boost that aren't working. I've been told on another thread that there's a plug near the DME that goes to the dash that transmits these signals.

Did you try plugging that red plug in?

That is clearly all it is. Red square plug for an '86. it's a little different for the newer ones though.

Sounds like you have disconnected a plug at the DME (above it).
I guess that you also have the low oil warning lamp/check engine lit up?

There's a plug that contains those things among others. Newer models have a 1x8 pin connector. Earlier a 2x4 connector.

Default Update

OK, I checked the red plug above the DME, it was clearly plugged in and tight. So I pulled the dash (again). As much as I was careful to make sure the plugs and clips were engaged behind the dash it apears the plug for the tach/boost was not clipped in. Fixed that and we'll see. I'm trouble shooting a rough idling/running engine. I'm in the process of replacing a leaking (vacuum) IC pipe. Hope thats the problem. Once I have my new IC pipe I'll know if the tach works.
Gremlins I hate em.
