Default New Yokohama S. Drive tire

I am looking to get Kumho SPTs, since they beat the Fuzion Zri's and the Dunlop Direzza as well as the new Yokohama S. Drive in the latest Tirerack test, however the Yokos looks really nice, has anyone used them, seen them or know anything about them?

Grassroots motorsports did a test with those in the latest issue (Mustang on the cover). It was a "low buck tire test" for street tires. They seem to like it quite a bit.

I have a set 275/40/17 rear and 245/45/17 front. I have put maybe 5000 miles on them. Compared to the Yoko Es100's I had before they are a HUGE improvement in quiteness, and comfort. They are extremely smooth even on bumpy roads with my tight suspension. That said, they are only decent for Auto X/ Track tire because they do lack a little steering response. So I guess it depends on your intentions, I bought mine as a street only set because I have another set of track wheels and I love them because of how my car rides and the fact that after 5000 miles they look perfectly brand new with full tread (unlike some I have used).

They are for street, I am in between these and the Ecsta SPTs for now, both look great and have good reviews, but the SPTs are less expensive than the Yokos by like $16 each

The S. Drive is $72 more than the SPTs for all fours on The Tirerack, I'm just wondering if it's worth the price difference since they are newer...

Yoko S.drive is an all-around very good tire. They're not the best at anything but taking it all into consideration, I've enjoyed their dry & wet grip, noise, response, feedback, and stiffness so far. Mine still appear brand new after 3 or 4k miles so I'm happy with the wear as well. Of course I wish they had a little bit more grip but you can't have everything. I can keep up with 996/997 on PS2's with no problem @ autocross. Here they are in action:

With the exception of the ES100 and AVID H4/V4, I have never been, nor had a customer, disapointed with Yoko's. Kuhmos have gotten better too, but I am biased. Just my 2 pennies.

I have to decide between the SPT and the S. Drive, aside from the $72 difference, the SPT beat the Yoko in the Tirerack tests, but the overall numbers were better on the Yokos when compared in the category by user reviews and ratings. Decisions, decisions...

I'm thinking of going with the STPs since they have been around over two years now and have many more reviews than the relatively new Yoko, plus it's also over $70 less for all four...
