I got mine at Autozone. They don't have one listed for the 944 series car, but they have one listed for the 928, which also happens to fit.

Yes. That's what I bought when doing mine. It fit the clutch disk splines and pilot bearing perfectly.
At the time I figured it was worth the possible $3 loss to give it a try.

I ordered mine - what a waste. When it came, it had "FORD" printed on the top of it, but I don't know which Ford application it was meant to be used. There's 5 or 6 Ford alignment tools laying around the garage - I probably already had it!

If your local parts store has the listing for the 928, use it. In fact, I think the service manual says to use the stub shaft from a 928 or a broken shaft from a 944 torque tube.

If you feel around the pressure plate with your finger tips, you can easiely center the clutch. If I had an alignment tool for every different car I did a clutch on, I would need a tool box just for those. I have some alignment tools that came with clutch packages but this method works well enough that it's often more work to walk to over to my toolbox and get the tool so I never bother.

Just an alternative if you can't find a tool or don't want to wait to order one.

Its funny i actually used the one for my brothers ford contour svt. It was in the garage and out of curiosity i tried to see if it i would fit and it was perfect.
