Default Is it okay to MIX OIL ?

I don't know what oil the clowns at the dealership put into it, I have 15/50 GTX Castrol ready for tomorrow.

I am low on oil now, I have to drive an hour away to get an oil change and inspection done.

I don't know what oil is in her now, is it better to put a bottle of 10//50 oil in.... or run her low.

How low is the oil you ask... in the middle of the cut arrow and the bottom of the dipstick.

I'd rather be full of mixed oil than no oil at all. Wouldn't you say?

You can mix; it doesn't matter.
You gotta remember that even during an oil change there's probably at least half a quart (probably more) left of the previous oil. And then people add different brands, weight, mix synthetic with dino, whatever.

If you add that much during a normal oil change, it will be overfull as some old oil will be left in the oil cooler and engine. I add 6 quarts then check the dipstick. If it shows near the full mark I start the car and let it warm up some. I then check the dipstick again and add the little extra needed from the 7th quart.

So yeah, you do need 7 quarts but don't just dump all 7 in without checking how full it is after 6.

There is nothing wrong with mixing oil. Synthetic blends are simply synthetic mixed with conventional. And if you mix 1 part 10-30 with 1 part 10-40 you get 10-35, as an example.

Change your own oil!

I never understand why people want to belittle technicians like they're a bunch of knuckle draggers. A good percentage of them are extremely well trained and have more mechanical skills than most people would ever dream of. I just finished my technician certification not too long ago and it's not a walk in the park, let me assure you.
