Default What do you wrap your ***** with?

I have removed the factory brake shield from my front brakes. I have been using thermal sleeve to wrap the ball joint and tie rod ends to protect the rubber boots from the heat of the rotor. I did some searching around and have not found a commercial product that addressed this problem.

I was wondering if anyone has a better solution.

Nothing. I prefer to let mine hang in the air. Keeps the count up.

we used the thermal sleeve on the race cars all the time, just safety wired it together. Worked every time.

Thanks Doug, I been sewing the sleeve together with stranded wire. Sounds like you are wrapping wire around the entire sleave, Ill try that.

Why did I remove them?I added brake ducts and the stock brake shield rubs big red brakes.

Actualy we didnt wrap the whole joint with the wire, we "sewed" the heat sleeve together with the safety wire.

i was just thinking of this since i removed my heat shields and put in my lindsey brake duct kit. I may just cut up a set of old heat shields i have and bolt just the lower portion of the original back on.
