Default Hmm...spark plug question plus picture

So I changed the plugs and wires today and was a little surprised at how the number one plug looked. I've never seen a plug come out of the car this way since I've owned with all the sets I've put on it. Here is a picture:

The other three plugs looked normal with a nice even light tan color to them. What do you guys think? It wasn't oily...kinda caked somewhat hard stuff...running rich maybe?...

I foresee your car in my sig. I even left a blank space, it's running lean on that cylinder.

I just put 55lb injectors in, how can I fix running lean on a single cylinder? There was a build-up of crap around the base of the electrode.
And no, it won't. If the engine goes, I'll build another.

Well, I wouldn't totally say that cylinder was running lean. The deposits on it are typically from oil or some type of additives then the spark may have been compromised for a small time whitening it.
something like this. if the cylender was running lean it would not usually have any deposits.

At this point I would change the plug and pull it in a 100 miles or so and look

Looks fluffy and carbon fouled to me. Your injector might be faulty since thats the only one that is like that.

That's what I was thinking. I just put these injectors in not too long ago. I have the proper resistors and also chips mapped for them, I NEED AN AFR GAUGE!!!!!!!!!!

That's my plan. For now I'll be driving it to work to get some miles on it so I can check it this weekend.

How long has this plug been on? Before the new injectors?

I have similar mods and my max chips AFRs are spot on and actually a bit too rich under boost.

The plug has been on for a little under three years (Remember tho that I've deployed twice in that time). They were there when I was using the stock injectors at their max duty cycle tho.

An AFR gauge probably won't tell you much if only 1 cylinder is running lean.

Did you have the larger injectors tested before you installed? If not, I'd recommend this be done. If they are fine, the plug issue may have happened before you changed injectors.

Also since you're upgrading I'd dump the Bosch WR7DC plugs and go a range colder with a NGK BPR7ES.

Its fuzzy. Carbon / oil builup. It doesn't have to be the injector going bad, but maybe the injector clip.

If the new plug does it again... Switch this injector with one that's from a different cylinder. Like the the one in number three. Check One and three a little later. If it's still One. Double check Connector.

I think your scivision MAF setup is causing this problem. As well as the 3" SFR exhaust. I am prepared to take these problem items off of your hands for you.

Darwin when you put the new plugs in, you could swap #1 and #2 injectors, then keep an eye on the plugs to confirn/rule out the injector itself.
