Default Rattling noice from camhousing

Seems to be to loud for a timingbelt rattle. Not sure though since i never heard one on the 951.

So im out driving my car yesterday, everything is fine. I Park it and when I get back to it again. Start it up it sounds like a diesletruck. But not a much as if the lifters are empty althogh a sounds not far from it. I reved it up to about 2.2k and the rattling stops. let go and it comes back. then i let it idle and after a while it runs like crap on idle and the oilpressure is down to 3 bars. The rattle seems to originate from the camhousing and/or distributor area Tried it today with a cold engine, thought it might be the lifters not filing up if the oil is warm and now it seems to be running on only 3 cylinders. Any clues?

Cant find any other thread about it...

Thanks

I recently had noise in the cam tower but only when warm. Replaced 3 lifters, put it back to together, same noise. So I removed the head. Turned out to be a broken inner valve spring on #3.

what oil are you running- if its not at least 15w40 i would up the weight. Sounds like your lifters are ticking hard. Is it low on oil?

Check to see if the cam pulley is properly secured. It will make a lot of noise if the bolt securing it becomes loose.

Im using a good oil and its not low on oil. This type/brand of oil has worked fine for about 2 years so i dont think its the oil. Im lifting the camtower tomorow so i guess i will notice then if the pullet is secured. The head has been runing for about 1000 km since a complete rebuild so i dont think it's anything wrong with the head. But hey, u never know. My own bet is a broken lifter. I will repport back when i find the problem

Thanks fot the advice so for. Keep it coming if you have any more thoughts...
