2.7 darton wet sleeved motor with custom JE pistons

i've run into a snag. during re-assembly i found out the balance shaft covers do not match the block. when i put them together and torqued the bolts down, i found i could not manually turn the balance shafts. it took a 3-foot breaker bar to turn them. thus, i've asked the owner of the donor motor to see if he could track down the matching covers that go with this block. if they can't find them, i'm at a loss of what to do.
anyone got suggestions?

the shafts are coming out of my original engine (and going into this donor engine), so i know they are true.
if the matching covers can't be located, it looks like i have two options;
1) re-bore the block's balance shaft tunnels with these mis-matched covers installed so they'll match (would probably require oversized bearings? how does this work?)
2) run without balance shafts, which is not advised on a street car, especially one with a bored motor.
pulling my hair out here now. blah.

Nize:
There are oversized bearings/bushings available, but they are for shafts that have been turned down to an undersized diameter, not for a thicker bearing bore diameter.
You will have to re-surface the covers and rebore the bearing locations. Also, the bore at the block/cover mating area where the front b.s. housing fits will have to be dealt with to be sure it is centered with the rear bearing so the shaft will run straight.
It is not really that complicated, but the machinist must know what he is doing, and have the correct boring equipment.

The machine shop you used should be able to machine the covers to match the block. It's a shame that you have to pull it appart again to do the machining.

As I said in my pm,
"The covers would need to be decked, possibly the block, and then you would have to line bore them. I'm assuming the block is assembled so, that would mean you would need to take it back down and then it would have to be re cleaned etc..
I'm sure the machine shop that did your work, could do this for you. "
You don't use oversize bearings as your changing the block and BS covers line bore/dimension not the BS diameter.

i figured out how to get them to fit better. re-assembly is progressing again. more info on fitting here;
