I passed on that version at Pep Boys and bought the one with the air-powered jack -- for the same price! It's so much easier that rowing the bottle jack lever... I have to say mine came with 4 reinforcement plates that are not shown in the assembly instructions and don't line up with any bolt holes on the lift. They are sitting in the garage waiting for something to bend...

Oh, yeah, those straps ARE missing. Luckily, mine are installed. I took a look at the bolts, though. Looks like 4.8 stamped on 'em. Not the best strength but they should work ok. I might put some 8.8 ones on the upper and lower rear strap mounts before my next engine pull. That pneumatic crane at Pep Boys went on sale a couple weeks after I got the red one. It looks cool being black and works manually or pnematic. Good find!

Oh man, how embarassing.
And whats worse, there are pictures of this incident.
This sorta like peeing your pants when you are drunk, and you hope there are no pictures....
If that were me, I would hide in my house for a few weeks....

My avatar reflects exactely the kind of passion that I have for these cars. I do to the 951's what Chigurn does to people on the movie "This is no country for old man".

No need for instructions to understand the completely obvious breaking force without any kind of rear support braces.....

BUT, I've made my own share of idiot mistakes in the past and I'm sure every single one here has too.
The trick is to never, ever document them

Aside from the missing straps...

Did the bolts, nuts, and large washers that are sitting directly under the bent flange ever MAKE IT to said flange?
