Default Let's help a lister

I receive the following email from a lister that almost killed his dad with a engine hoist that collapsed on him. This known lister is an experienced mechanic, his dad has almost 40 years of mechanical experienced back in South America, yet almost sucumbed to an horrible accident . Here is the email and the pictures, let help the lister find the solution to this problem.

email from the lister
I took the pic after my dad started to take it apart. but you pretty much get the idea. i fix it for now by adding a couple of thick steel plates and STRONGER BOLTS. the hoist is from pep boys lol. my dad is going to return the dam thing
pictures;

the 3rd picture is of the same product advertised by the manufacturer

I personally think the 2 1/2 ton hoist collapsed not when he tried to lift the 400lbs engine but when he lifted the Burro piñata check picture # 4

Here is a larger picture but out of respect for this experience mechanic and his 40 year of mechanical experience dad I won't mention his name.

Oh, no. That looks like the engine crane I have. I bought it from Pep Children and it was made by Big Red. I guess it's like they taught me in the military. "Red, you're dead."

No you missed it in the pictures. The mechanic didn't put the rear braces on, thats why the lift failed.
