I saw this car sell for $5500 and it's a late '85. Mileage isn't listed in the details but I recall it being low - like 35K....see lot 102.
Prettier color too..dark gray metallic.

Barrett-Jackson seems to always have some good deals on non-US cars as most of the people who go there are only interested in the old domestic stuff. Their auctions are all no reserve, so if you are lucky you can pick some nice Italian, British or German cars up for little $'s.

You know, you're correct - I can see it in the picture too now that you mentioned it. However when I was watching the auction the announcers misquoted the mileage if I'm not mistaken.
Folks, we're talking about a different 944 that went for $5500 in lot #102
I saw the speedo on the interior pic, it's more like 125,000 miles....

I usually have picture in picture going and flip between two programs. I flipped over just in time to see about a minute or two of the auction of the late 85 model and thought about jumping on here to mention it but didn't follow through. I'm pretty sure I heard the announcers say "low mile" or less than 35K but may be mistaken. If you can watch it and double check my facts I wouldn't mind hearing details.

There are a few out there...Here's an early '85 with 19k miles:

I was out at the big Auctions but I was at Russo and Steele. They specialize in hot rods and european customs. I got a high bid of $46,000. If it went to 50k, I'd let it go at the time. Way better than Barrett in my opinion. You can put reserves on your car and they're so much nicer to deal with. There's a really big difference between value if your car is in show condition versus even a great daily driver in "top condition". Even now, I don't think my car is in show condition anymore...but it will be.

That steering wheel is not correct for that year car. It should have a three spoke wheel. That wheel is the same as my 86 Turbo. My early 85 944 N/A has the three spoke. That wheel came out with the late model 85 interior revisions (oval dash). It does not have the original battery or the battery top protection cover. The tires are not original. My 944 NA came stock with Pirelli P6000.

A three spoke steering wheel was standard on the '84, and the four spoke was an option. I ordered an '84 with the 4 spoke steering wheel option so I'm absolutely sure about this. BTW, the wait for a 944 in 1984 was 6-12 months.....
The early '85 NA that I have now had a 3 spoke and I replaced it with a 4 spoke.
My '84 came with Dunlops, and the early '85 has Dunlops - both with cookie cutters.

I think the cookie cutter wheels are Mahle, not Ate. I might be wrong. Really light and strong. I belive the cookie cutters were as light if not more so than Fuchs.
