Default SFR 3 inch downpipe dilemma

I have been wanting to purchase a true 3inch downpipe for some time now but have a dilemma. If I buy it will it still bolt up to my non true 3inch test pipe which has the 2.5 inch reducer to meet up with the standard downpipe. I dont really want to have to change the test pipe so I need to fit the SFR downpipe in order to get it to the exhaust shop to get them to weld the tru 3 inch flange but if it wont bolt up to my reduced test pipe I have no way to get the car there apart from on a transporter and I dont really want the exhaust shop doing all the work to remove the intake and turbo etc to fit the downpipe....

Is there a way round this? Will it temporarily fit the reduced (non true) testpippe or do the bolts miss completely due to the bigger diameter - which is what the pics suggest on the sfr site.

No, a true 3 inch downpipe will not bolt up to a reduced test pipe.

Well yes there is the question of how effective the mod will be as there are no proven results. Some say small is better at the beginning others say not. My turbo is a Vitesse stage V - not sure of the diameter of the hotside outlet....? The engine is 3.0 8v. Some say you run into big backpressure issues with the 10 hotside on a 3.0. I am just trying to iron out the last weak links in my system but would like to hear others opinions on the subject as I have searched and read all the posts out there on the subject with no clear result...

The stock downpipe does get pretty small and is also kinda heavy. I still dont think its worth the trouble if you already bought a testpipe.

The 3" downpipe will work with any testpipe or catylitic convertor.

I currently have a SFR 3 inch DP attached to a bursch non-3 inch test pipe, and have had the factory cat attached previously.

How is this possible? If the OD is different, how can it bolt up?

The flange has the same bolt pattern -- the pipe is just closer to the bolt holes.

****. Now I'm worried.

Does the 3" SFR test pipe bolt up to a factory crossover?

do you mean to the wastegate dump? if so it does as long as you have or buy a 2 bolt flange to replace the factory v band type connection.

I wish i knew sfr downpipes and testpipes were compatable a long time ago. Ive had my sfr testpipe sitting on a shelf for months because i figured it wouldnt bolt to a factory downpipe, oh well. Im putting it up now though since everythings apart anyway and i just ordered a downpipe.
