Default Blown Turbo?????

Brand New Turbo..NEVER run on boost..less than 20 miles on it..

Yes oil or coolant in the bottom of the turbo...
Oil or coolant in the hose and turbo hard pipe. No oil or coolant in the intake hard pipe very little if any in the intercooler.

hard to tell if it's oil or coolant because I am using Evans waterless coolant and it's color is very close to dino oil..

your thoughts please..

as always thanks in advance,

What kind of turbo? Does the turbo spin freely without slop? Are you still using the factory intake piping? If so, then a little oil isn't anything to concern yourself over. That is normal for a car that still has the hose going to the AOS pre-turbo..

Rogue,
Turbo does spin freely no slop using factory intake hard pipe.. How is oil leaking normal?? Don't leaks indicate replacement seals needed? what if this is coolant and not oil? what then?

Bad rings will force oil into the intake.

So is that oil or coolant? From what I have read in another thread from yesterday shaft play has nothing to do with what is up with the seals. Is there a way that you could simulate water pressure on the turbo with the turbo out of the car?

If coolant is in the intake/turbo the only way it got there was through the turbo. I do not know of any other interface of coolant and intake. If I am wrong somebody please correct me.

The turbo will suck in oil from the hose connected to the AOS. Like I said, a slight bit of oil is normal..

Default What causes coolant to get in the turbo

Ok if it's not oil but coolant ( I will determine for sure later today)
What would cause it to get into the turbo? Bad seals?

Seals won't leak coolant... you would have to have a crack in the CHRA and then a leaking seal to let the coolant pass. Is coolant mixed with your oil?

Rogue,

I just checked and it appears to be oil that is sitting at the bottom of the turbo.
I can't make a determination if coolant is mixed with oil I am assuming it is from the hose in the first picture it has the white crud associated with coolant?

Coolant mixed with oil will be easiest to determine by the dipstick - the oil will look kinda like a milk-shake if its been mixed with coolant.

You should probably just get a new one just in case. Send me the old one and I can deal with the headache.

PM me for details

If it is oil then more then likely you are getting oil in the intake through the breather. Which is due to blow by on the rings.
