However, I did sacrifice two beetles and one rollie pollie and the vented nose panel is about to brought back to life with a new coat of black paint.

John Lemm, got rear ended at Road America after he got the car back from Chris - new engine, tranny with custom gears (that tranny is in Lindseys yellow car now ) - and he did a roll over in the gravel pit and the rear of the car was knocked over a couple of inches. When I was parting the car, everytime I'd take something off from underneath, all this white gravel would come pouring out. I saved it and gave it back to him in a potted plant. This was two 4 years ago. Back on topic...

I don't have a plan yet -- need to research that a bit to find someone to do the work. I'll run the LSD spare in the meantime. I would like to strengthen it if possible and run a quaiffe, and look into the best gear ratios.

Made a bit of progress tonight -- wrestled the bad tranny out of the car. Not looking forward to lining up the coupler on reinstallation...

So is this a short shifter? Do I want it? Is it set for a reasonable throw?

Don't recognize it, but I have a SS and have it adjusted as tight as it'll go. Don't think I could live without. Going back to stock would feel too ah, slushy?

How can you do the writeup on your 3.0 build when you keep farting around with the TA?

I actually have half a write up for the engine build -- already 25+ pages... I'll get there eventually.

Anyone recognize the shifter?

Ski, that's a hell of a story. Now that you told it, I heard about it back when it happened but you tell it a lot better. A planter...lol.
TurboX, I don't know about Tom but mine sounded like the initial bang of a car accident. Then a loud metal to metal clatter all the way home, but not in second. Second was a big continous metal crunch. Nasty.

That's great Tom, I'd like to use it to build my 3.0. Who did your bore & hone work on the block?

Scott Gomes. (After a local shop ruined my original 968 block.) I highly recommend him -- he's in a different league than most, personally and professionally.

Yes, actually, pretty similar to that.

Good news is I had the LSD tranny waiting in the wings, and finished installing it this morning. Just took it on a test drive and all is good again at 18psi -- now with more traction!
