Previous Track Pads: Anything I can do to use these with new rotors
As I am replacing my entire suspension I am replacing the rotors. I have a set of hawk pads that I bought that were pretty exspensive IIRC and I'd like to be able to reuse them. I think they were about $100/axle.
Is there anything I can do to reuse these full-time? I understand they would have been bedded into the grooves of the old rotors, but there is a whole lot of life left in these. Alternatively, can I buy some cheap OEM/Mintex pads and bed the new rotors with those and somehow only run these on the track like I did before? Clearly, I don't know much about this, just trying to save some $$ on this project.

I've mixed and matched old pads to new rotors or new pads to old rotors numerous times. Never had a problem. Do some light and moderate braking to wear the high spots off the pad and avoid localized glazing. If the pads are really grooved, though, you may want to smooth them w/ some sandpaper.

This is what I figured. I think I am just going to put the hawks on there and run with those exclusively. They are a bit dusty, but that way I don't have to do all of that nonsense before a track day. The OEM pads I had were basically almost wore through as it was.
Also, the pads, both OEM and my track pads, are essentially flat. I will go ahead and sand them a bit before install though.

Gator, The best practice is to bed new rotors with previously used pads and to bed new pads with previously used rotors. You can check this out for yourself on the www.stoptech.com web site.

I've got a set of Pagid Black pads, new if you want them, you can do the fronts. Shipping only, this for you since the other stuff. I'll be home in a week-n-half and can ship them out.

virgin rotors will be fine with old pads. a good bedding process will have everything as smooth as needed.
the issue of dissimilar materials comes up with old rotors and a different brand/compound of pad. stick them on and forget about it until you decide to try another brand.
