I don't wash my car as often as I should and usually get a heavy build up of brake dust on my wheels. They are Cup wheels.
What have you guys used to get the heavy junk off easily besides regular cleaning?? I work too much and have two kids so washing the car is far and few between.

cup 1s are possibly the easiest wheel to clean. Just use a wet rag, or a rag and some solution/soapywater/windex. It will take about 5 minutes to get your stuff out and ready and clean all 4 wheels. A little spray on wax might make them easier to clean next time too.

They are not easy when the brake dust is caked around the outside of the wheel where the spokes meet the bead.
Once I get them clean this weekend I will try the spray wax.

Two kids + four wheels - personal free time = clean wheels.
Option B: Send them up to Ashburn and I will give you my phone dials (cleaned free of charge)....you pay shipping![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Serious answer: regular cleaning is your best bet. or keep a towel in the garage and wipe down your wheels after a heavy night of breaking. Give them a once over every time.

i used to spray mine down w/ armor all or wd40 and wipe the tires off and the rims lightly. Then the brake dust had something to stick to besides the paint. Then when i cleaned it wiped right off. Besides if you have kids their little hands can get into the spokes of the wheel better- give em a sponge and some water!

Painted cup 1's. find your local detailers supply store, and get a bottle of wheel brite. it's a giang jug of purple sh*t. dilute it 25%-75%. spray on, scrub a bit, rinse off. repeat until wheels are clean.
Note: DO NOT EVER EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS STUFF ON ANODIZED CS WHEELS! it will absolutely DESTROY the finish.
Note 2: it might look tasty, but don't drink it. it's acid. literally.
note 3: the most time this stuff should EVER sit on your wheel is a whopping 30 seconds at the VERY most.

Chris, if you feel really lazy, just buy some pool muriatic acid and that will clean everything

I still like the idea of the kids being educated on what a sweat shop is like. Get them to do it as a form of paying board!

buy a $100 pressure washer. Every wheel cleaning will take 2 minutes from there on out
other option is buy metal masters brake pads and almost never have dust

If you coat the wheel with silicone spray after washing the brake dust washes off very easily next time. You need to spray carefully and at a steep angle to keep the silicone off the brakes. I also use the silicone on CV joint boots, door seals, etc.

For me this works as a cleaner as well as a protective coating.

Thanks for the replies. No my 4 and 6 year olds are not going to "help" me wash my car. I tried that once with my white 951. My son who was 4 at the time is holding a sponge full of soap, dirt, sand and mulch asking where he should start washing.......ugh.
Thanks for the black paint suggestion.
I have considered that already but decieded against the all black theme.
