Default Lifting the front of the car

Hi all,

Using the center jack point and setting stands along the front frame rails and the rear stand points by the bottom plastic trim, it seems the rear gets lifted much more than the front. Whats the best way to lift primarily the front for like oil changes and checking for coolant leaks? Its too low for my ramps.

I jack up one side of the car, slightly, so that I can fit a jack under the front to lift it from the cross member.

Do you just run the car without the bottom deflectors? Thats kinda scary in Michigan, where they patch giant potholes with loose gravel and tar.

You could just have someone sit in the trunk while you jack the car...

Frequently I'll put my car on 4 stands as you describe then lift the front higher from under the crossmember and extend the front stands.

Have you tried it with a full tank of gas?

That's the same thing I do. I use a spare scissor jack I have, and lift at the center point until it's high enough to get my floor jack under the front jack point. Lift one side, support it on a stand by the frame rail, and move to the other side.

Once one side is lifted, the scissor jack is not required for the other side.

I can lift my '83 using with the floor jack using under the crossmember, because it has no skid plate and it sits higher than the 951.
