Question for engine guys
During the last few days my car started to burn oil. Normal driving, blue smoke out the tailpipe.
I did a compression test, all cylinders about equal in the 135 range.
Plugs looked ok, except #4 had some burned oil on it.
Also, it's not getting full boost either.
I'm running a cometic mls headgasket and my turbo is a Lindsey super 61 with 6k miles.
I thought I had a bad piston ring, but shouldn't that show on the compression numbers?
Any ideas what to look for before I start tearing this thing apart?
Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure the air/oil seperator line to the intake is not pinched or clogged. Restriction in this line can cause over pressurization of the cankcase and that will create smoke

how many miles on the turbo? You say only #4 has burned oil in it... could be a headgasket leak or maybe you've got oil in your intake from the turbo or something else...
I read somewhere that a person had an oil leak coming out of the exhaust part of their turbo which burned out the exhaust, no signs of oil in intake.
I always feel that it's a crap shoot when buying parts like turbos, they are not always as perfect as we'd all like to think, new or remanufactured. Your turbo should be fine but then again.... best to check!
Silly question here... did you replace your valve stem oil seals?

I haven't really checked anything but the compression yet, I'll look at it tomorrow. Valve seals were replaced when I did the headgasket and the turbo only has like 6k miles on it. I'm also running a catchcan for crankcase vent.
What led me to think it might be the piston ring(s) is the lack of full boost and major oil consumption.

I highly doubt you have a bad ring or even spent valve seals if your compression numbers are good and equal which I think 135 is. Tell us more about this "not getting full" boost, what does that mean?

It only does 16-17 psi, my low setting is 20 psi on the ebc. I'm running a water/ methanol injection.
I suppose I could have a leak somewhere but this happened at the same time I noticed the oil consumption issue.
