I have a set of Rockford Fosgate speakers that will fit the big speaker hole in the door on the 10 speaker option. $25 plus shipping.

I have a set I am not to far from installing. I went w/ 5.25 componets and will skip the 3 inch and plat it off. I tried to find replacement speaker w/ no luck. I figure w/ the componets up front, 4x6 rear ( 86 model) and KLR 8" sub in rear. I actully cant wait to see how it sounds.

A few quick pics:

Woofer = 5-1/8” Diameter, 4-1/2” Cut out, 2-1/4” Depth, 4” hole to hole(5-5/8” diagonal).

Mid = 3-1/8” Diameter, 2-15/16” Cut out, 1-1/2” Depth, 2-7/16” hole to hole(3-1/2” diagonal).

Tweeter = 1-5/8” cut out, 5/8" Depth, 2-5/16” hole spacing.

I’m using a Polk EX 5-1/4 component set with a Db series 3-1/2” mid with the tweeter removed.

I had to massage the Mid speaker and opening to fit. The 5-1/4" and 3-1/2" are run in series. I still need to open the 5-1/4” hole to have it sit flush, so I can put the grill on.

You’re welcome Bret.
I forgot to mention the crossover.
Box = 2-13/16”W x 2-3/8”H x 1-3/16”D
Platform = 3-5/8”W
Hole Spacing = 3-1/4” and 1-7/32”

I was able to use my Polk EX x-over in the factory location.
I removed the circuit board from the bottom case and
drilled holes to match the existing screw points then
pooped the board in and the cover on.

The Polk case is slightly larger than the original length and width wise,
but the height is very close and tapers at one end. This allowed it to be mounted in the original orientation.

If you need any info on the rear speakers, let me know.
You could call www.crutchfield.com they have always been helpful with my installs.

Good luck,

HI All, I just change the speakers on my door panel and i was wondering what cross over you would recommend as an upgrade that would still fit in this space? or what have you done once you change update you speakers?

I used these for the rear side panels and the lower door location. If you looking for an inexpensive way to go they are great. I power them with an old School ADS amp and used the ADS crossovers that the previews owner installed. I removed the 3" mid from the doors. For the rear sub-woofer I'm going to do something like the KLR 8" setup, maybe even two of them.

You can buy tweeters and crossovers here too.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback but my question is only about the cross over, i have laready upgrade both the 5.25 and and 3.15 in the lower door location, but i feel the current/original cross over is not following my new speaker, so i want to upgrade also and i am looking for a recommendation.

Something like this? Search two way “passive” crossover if it’s after the amplifier. There are so many to choose from. Remember you get what you pay for.

Typically the speaker manufacture will give a recommended crossover frequency.
