New version versus (a quite keputz) old version.

Now if I just had the coin for a full bearing system.

I have 968 caster blocks, along with 968 mirrors, handles, door panels, 6-speed tranny, spoiler, and bodywork. But no turbo For that, I will need to save up some coin too.

Can you just swap out the old 944 blocks with the 968 caster blocks?

YES.

I just ordered mine today in fact. AFAIK, the original design is NLA.

I've had mine on my car for 2 years. Haven't driven more than a 100 miles. Can't wait to give these some hard use this year.

Can you use the 968 castor blocks on the older steel a-arms? (pre 1985.5?)

Be extremely careful not to over torque the caster block mounting bolts. I used brand new bolts. Do a search on this. You can cause some damage and a large PITA if you over torque the fasteners.

not sure. I'd ask that question on the 944 board.

Steel arms use a different caster block.

I have a set of the 968 caster blocks for sale with about 5k miles on them, 2 years old. I was using them on my 83 944 with the steel arms.
