Default Turbo Time

got about 1500 bux to spend

looking at a new turbo. application is all street, cuz theres no tracks out here to run my car at....sniffle

SO, im looking for a turbo with no turbo lag, ok minimal turbo lag. cuz i hate getting full boost around 4100rpms on my k26-6.

im aiming for 350hp. i know i will need supporting mods like exhaust, WG, MAF, chips. etc.

wet or dry housings? whats better? what do u guys perfer? u get the idea.

Twin ball berring turbos. are they worth it or what?

im avoiding buying a turbo blindly and i like to know everything about something before i drop 15 or so hundred bux on something.

awsome.
oh and at the moment im kinda leaning towards the LR super 61 turbo. whos got one? are u happy with it???

cheers

The Super 61 is nice but for 1500 you can get the same exact turbo in ball bearing from: http://www.pauertuning.com/turbos.htm.

I doubt it will spool sooner than the k-26 though. Some lag isn't as bad as you might think.

Pauerman built Nize a turbo that seems to fit your expectations very well. It was basically a T04E 50 trim DBB with a #8 or #10 and a stgIII turbine wheel. The #6, #8, and #10 are different A/R exhaust housings that fit out cars. The bigger housings make less back pressure but potentially have more lag.

AH! brilliant! thanx dude! ive been wondering that question for a long *** time and absoulutly no one in this town has been able to tell me.

so basically the bigger the exhaust housing = less back pressure which = more lag. smaller exhaust housings = more back pressure which = less lag

its oh so simple now

You might watch for guy's upgrading and selling ther current used parts, $1500 will not go very far buying new parts.

True 350 rwhp is easier said than done at reasonable boost.

Yes and no, depends on you complete setup, you can have full boost at 4k or less using a #10 turbine housing.

Something sounds very wrong if your k26/6 isn't hitting 1 bar until 4100rpm?? Buying a bigger turbo is only going to exacerbate this issue. Changing your exhaust sounds like a good mod at a guess.

i was thinking exhaust. yea my car is a sparatic bitch, pardon my french. somedays it runs like a scared puppy and other days it wont build any boost to save its life. ive been thinking bout the WG cuz ive heard our OEM WG's start to stick over age. but AHHHH is basically how i feel most days. pulling out all sorts of hair and throwing tools across the garage.

Also look at SFR's turbos. You don't need exhaust but a WG would help. Injectors, chips, and probably and MAF are a must.

I agree, need to get that issue figured out first then do mods, been awhile since I've been in a stock car but best I remember sub 3500 for full boost on k26/6

yea im getting there. WG and chips are most likly going to be the next thing at my door step.
on the boost thing. the car will start up fine. but when i build boost sometimes it wont build. not even close to full boost. u can feel it missing something. so i turn the car off at a light or something then it will build boost find. DME or KLR faulty??
