I only know what he told me about the build/show. I don't know my Asian imports at all. I know enough to fix them, but nothing about thier historys.

I know they just pulled the motor out of one of thier NOPI cars and shoved it in there. Last time on the dyno that motor was around 900hp IIRC.

Here are some pictures of the 1jz swap that I mentioned earlier. I can't wait to hear how his bell housing plate system works!

Also note the spacers under the castor blocks as well as the cut out in the crossmember.

Interesting stuff. I still can't wrap my brain around the idea of swapping motors in 944's.

I don't want to discount this as anything less than a great idea, but I love the motors these things come with. My only wish is that the 951 should have gotten the 16v head and according lower-end components to compliment it. I think the 968 motor is a great one. Same size as the 2jz, but less cylinders lol. Just cool bragging rights, having a 2.5 liter or 3.0 liter 4 banger.

Come to think of it... A supra motor is a bragging right in its self. Just kinda sittin there in a garage. "Yup... That's my supra motor."

i had a 90 supra t w/ a 7mgte - those motors were "ok" and they were easily 600hp motors w/ bolt ons. I'm sure w/ a 2jz or 1jz some real power is quite easy. Ive seen several 2jz cars w/ over 1000hp and never removed the valve cover!!!! Rediculous.

If what I've been reading is correct, the engineering on the 2jz was outsourced a German firm. From a performance standpoint, it is the engine that I've always thought my 951 should have come with. But at the same time, I think that the sound of the big raucous 4 cylinder really defines the character of the 944. It's going to be some serious cognitive dissonance hearing a dohc I-6 purring under the hood.

People have swapped these into everything from BMWs to Mustangs. Someone had to do a 944 sooner or later.

Here is a 1JZ in an FD, one of my all time favorite cars.

I think a 2JZ in a 951 Would look much sexier than this\/

I actually did some reading on that car a while back. They chose the newest 1jz because they wanted to replace the rotary with something similarly high revving. It's a very cool car in my opinion! I want to make an FD autocross / track car for my next project.

Holy sh*t, that orange cgt is insane. I came across a normal one out on a country road a year or two ago and we had some fun. In the flesh, they are absolutely insane. The look, the sound, they're like nothing else I've seen on the road. I think road and track did the comparison article between a gt3 cup car and a cgt. The results were pretty interesting.

Yah man, I was drooling when I was looking at that car, they do look unreal in person.
Here is the piece that Jay Leno Did on the C-GT http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/cars/C...GT_shell.shtml
You should read the article on the clutch, very nice. If I can afford to buy a super car the C-GT would be my car of choice. But Who needs a C-GT when you can build a 1200whp 951 for a fraction of the cost
