Mike, are you familiar with Vic over at Pauer Tuning (http://www.pauertuning.com/)? He is a member here and was going to source a #10 for my 60-1, but I decided to stick with an #8 for now. He may be able to help you, or might be familiar with someone that can.

I can't imagine how fast you get boost on a 3L with a 60-1 hifi. I have 15 psi by ~3,000-3,200rpm in 3rd gear.

you will never get 600hp out of a 60-1hifi, and 500 is a stretch. I basicly maxed out a 60-1 hifi on my 2.8. At high boost, around 21 psi. It was at its limit of effiecency and the hot side was getting chocked with a stage 5 wheel and a full T4 .50 a/r hot side, which is much larger than a #10. I made 413whp.

You can runn much higher boost witht he gt-35r, the sweet spot of effiecency of the 60-1 hifi is around 14psi.

The crazy thing is all this power will be coming out of a cab.

I hope you have the best roll bar.

Ben thanks for the reminder about Vic.

Mike what hotside and turbine did you run on your 60-1?

TMS951, thanks for sharing on your experience it certainly suggests a change is needed to go for crank 600hp then.
Looking at the GT35R map though, it will handle more boost for sure but the flow doesnt seem to be much more that the 60-1, they both theoretically max out at 60lbs.

Arash, I'm not planning to see how it handles upside down, so hopefully wont need a roll bar!!

If I recall, the 60-1 is a relatively "low boost" turbo for the amount it flows. Heck Turbonetics uses it on their 4.6 mustang kit (although not the hifi version). Without looking at the compressor map, my intuition is that it will work even better on a 3.0l than a 2.8. Still, I agree that 600 will be a stretch for this turbo on pump gas.

...I see that SFR uses two of them for their 350z kit (almost exactly half the flow demand per turbo of the mustang kit).

If this were my car and money were completely out of the equation, I would do the gt-35 without hesitating.

I would also look into the ball bearing T61, T62, T66 options that SFR offers. The T61 looks like like it has some serious power potential if you aren't afraid of some lag. My personal opinion based on no experience haha.

Anders44 your right I'm sure, after a lot more reading seems that many people are making more than 600hp on the GT35R, certainly not the case for the 60-1.

I'll go the GT35R with .82 AR and modify the car to fit, doesnt seem that hard from what I have read.

RPharris - the 60-1 is a great turbo when it was on my 3.0 it spooled well produced good power all the way to max revs, sounds absolutely amazing like a 747 turbine under the hood...but wont get me to 600hp though..

Agreed on all points. In fact I just put a LR super 61 (aka 60-1 hifi with T04E housing) on my car and it kicks butt.

Just to be clear, I was referring to the T61 not the 60-1 at the end of my post. The T61 apparently uses a gt35 compressor wheel in a T04s housing. Might be worth looking into It's even available DBB just like the gt35.

I agree, Anders.
Please share your recorded comparisons of these 2 compressors on your 951 -
did you use the same turbine/exhaust housing configuration for your comparison?

GT35R BB is the best compromise turbo currently on the market, the response time vs power output vs reliablity vs size put it at the top of turbo choices ...

We have used these things on 1.4L motorcycles to 911TT and everything else in between......they do work ......

installed over 5 60-1hi-fi. stage5. comes in a popular RSX turbo kit. I'd be shocked if you got 450whp. GT35R clearly is the turbo you're looking for. And yes, the 60-1 compressor wheel is designed for low boost. You can always change the 35R compressor wheel to match your application. (alot of people don't realize the turbine side is the heart of Garrets GT designations)

How do any of these compare with Lindsey's Super 75?
