Pretty darn close. I think the Cayman (non-S at least) has a front offset of 51mm and a rear offset of 44mm. The 1989 Turbo 944 has a front offset of 52mm and a rear of 47mm, so the front is a clean swap and the rear could use a spacer probably small enough to keep the original studs. Unless they are wacky widths, it would probably work.

The Cayman is new enough that I wouldn't expect to find a set of takeoffs cheap enough to beat a good-enough-for-winter-use replica wheel from Tirerack. The $51 wheels posted above from Discount Tire are a freak of overstocking, but there are $130 wheels typically around that would do the job. For me, there is also the issue of making sure that there are snow tires available for the wheels - I have a great set of wheels, its just no one makes snow tires that fit them anymore!

I was planning on using the cayman wheels for the track but do not know whether they are a good option. Was going to go 17" (so they fit the bill due to cost).

Any more opinions as to whether they are a good choice for a turbo s DE car?

Just pulled my wheels to check - my '89 944 Turbo actually has front offsets of 65mm and rear of 60mm. So the Cayman wheel offsets are off by a fair bit, although I have no idea what impact that has on anything. Good luck!

Default cheap rimson ebay

I just purchased a new set (4) of replica Cayenne 19x9" rims on ebay, shipped to my door for $180 total! and he's got more. Not positive if they'll fit but its worth a go for the price. I purchased rubber at 255/40/19 and with calculation should put my wheel/tire diameter within 2 mm of original for my 928 diameter and width is just slightly wider but doable with no fender rolling. Not sure if this helps, but I believe the 944 is close to the same size. Offset will be different though. these cayenne rims are 65 offset. you'll need roughly 1 inch spacers I believe.

cayenne rimms are well sized ( no stagger) and well priced . but as a cayenne is getting close to double the wieght of a 944 the load rating of the wheels must be close to double and there for the rims must be heavy .they are a good option just not the ultimate in performance . I'd be interested in seeing how heavy they are .
