Default Cayenne rims on a 1989 944 Turbo?

Yes, I am still banging around on the winter wheel thing. Feel free to mock me. Current question: Anyone run Cayenne wheels on a 944? The bolt pattern seems right, and the offsets (55mm) look to be close enough that I could slap some 235/45R17 Blizzak rubber on them and call them a winter set. OK, some spacers may be needed on the rear since the offsets are off a fair bit (55 - 43 = 12), but I could deal.

But the wheels off of a #$@!$@! SUV? What am I missing? Even if they're boat anchors, I'm just looking for winter wheels and Cayenne takeoffs seem to be everywhere. This forum is a great source for finding awfully pretty wheels at a great price, but I want ugly winter wheels at a great price...

(On a totally different subject, is there anyway to search the forums with an and operator? Searching for "Cayenne and offset" in this forum was not as illuminating as it should have been.)

Some years and models at least came with 17" wheels.

Cayenne wheel is no different then the sports cars other then offsets. The Sport Techno's originally for the Cayenne is also available in an offset for sports cars.

So long as it looks good, and the offset is in range, and you can get a good deal, go for it.

Those 18s might be cheap, but 18" tires are always way more expensive than 17" tires.

Cayenne wheels work in other Porsches but they are extremely heavy as they are designed to last in offroad use.

Oh this is a serious question.

Isn't winter almost over? Are we planning for next year?

With the amount of time it has taken me to figure this out, yes I am planning for next year. (Actually, I got a chunk of money at xmas specifically to buy winter wheels and tires as a gift.) Although I am still expecting a good snow or two in this season.

I have OEM 17-inch" "twist" wheels and I'm pretty happy with them...

By the way...what is this "winter" you speak of?
