But they only do to scandinavia.
when shipping whole containers you could usually deal direct with the shipping company like Maersk or APL for instance..

Maersk I know have lots of cargo going to NJ ..
Doing a bit of googling and I found lots of companies that would arrange shipping from Uk to US ..

How long ago? That sounds reasonable.
I used to ship 40ft containers out of Galveston TX to Southampton for £680 a time in the late 1980's (BEL Lines) but the same container now would cost 2 and a half times that. Sometimes you can get lucky and buy space in a container. Thats why it is good to have a good shipping agent as they know of redundant space.

There are plenty of Container lines that do UK to US. I used to use Bel & LEP lines quite extensvely. I have used Maersk but only into Europort (Rotterdam)
It may be more cost effective to buy space rather than a complete container

Hi guys, yes this was back in 2003 but it was still a considerably lower rate than shipping roll-on/roll-off, which was around US$1,500 at the time.
Only problem I had was that it took 2 months to arrive because the ship broke down in the port of Cadiz. Normal turnaround on these containers is around 20 days provided the shipper is ready to send it when you deliver the car. My car shared a container with a big Lincoln Town Car.
The US$600 was for shipping only. When the car arrived I had some customs fees and would've paid an additional 10% non-EU import duty plus 16% VAT and another 9% in first time registration fees but all these were waived because I imported the car in a change of residence from the US to the EU.

That's so cheap! I was looking at sending my car to the US and it was going to be lots more than that plus I wasn't happy with the lack of security. Anything that's not welded on can disappear from what I've heard.

I've had a couple of customers who have recently sold 993's, which were bought by a fellow that immediately ships them off to Europe because that is so lucrative right now. Said he had bought and shipped 20 cars this month.
