Hey Richard,

This sounds like its adding up to a Marathon Weekend Tech GTG in my garage this spring.
We can do the belts and I can also do the exhaust while the car is up on jacks... I'll probably have to also do my front seals...
We'll talk soon.

Once the car is sorted out, you are going to benefit most from exhaust, tial wastegate and mbc. Don't spend the money on the headers at this stage. This is just my opinion, however. Hope it will be helpful.

Do you have the instruction manual that came with your MAF? I wouldn't touch any boost related things (wastegate/cycling vavle) until I knew what the boost curve of the Autothority MAF was supposed to be. You must first find this out.
Then, the first thing you should buy after making sure the car's maintenance is up to speed is a data logger to log boost and lambda, at least. I wouldn't bother with an EGT probe unless you plan to monitor all four cylinders individually. A zeitronix ZT-2 or Innovate LMA-3 would be good choices. With either system you'll be able to view your lambda and boost vs. RPM. The LMA-3 also has some additional inputs/outputs that would be great things to utilize.

Stage II Chips
I just love that "Stage" thing in the USA

Seems to me every single company have Stage-something what ever they sell. Not Such a thing here in Europe. Is there some official way to measure to what "Stage" parts belongs....
And does every companies Stage 1 etc. equals to another companys Stage 1 etc.

$1k? Hmm, well don't turn up the boost and save your $1k for later when you need to do something important to your car like a major service etc. Really $1k ain't going to get you much that you really need more than you've already got. Maybe wideband. Or some better suspension if you're still running around on stock.

amen to this. i've been griping about this for a while. they may as well call it pixiedust4 or voodoo13 or blackmagic86.

i think it's just a way for companies to avoid disclosing any technically useful information while sounding like they have a worthy product.

i personallly refuse to buy a 'stage-whatever' product unless the actual technical specs are disclosed.

Stage 3 = bring out the plastics
Stage 4 = running tab

Peter-

Looks like you did good my friend... Welcome to the world of Boooost!!! I too have the stage 2 chips and the most notable difference to me (seat of the pants dyno) was jumping from the stock wastegate to a Tial and an electronic boost controller. Never looked back... I hope to catch up with you guys later in this spring.

Peter, take the weekend off and do a Renn search. These cars have a decade plus of solid modding and these topics have been beat into the ground over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
