how about some flexable polyurethane front splitters?

no. it's flexible, but it's not that flexible. i think you're imagining it like rubber, but it's more a solid body part that flexes under a lot of stress. There are different hardnesses that i could go with, im thinking a 45D shore would be best. but they'll be time to test and adjust on that stuff.

Best way to do this is to measure the pressure or material deflection on a car at speed. You could do this at lower speeds if you obtained enough points. You then extrapolate to the higher speeds.

quick update:
A quick update:
sample materials arrived a couple days ago, and I'll be doing some tests on the molding process this weekend. If all goes well, I'll order the real stuff in bulk, and make a couple test pieces next weekend. Anyone in the new england wanna help me test fit???

How is this project going, I just tore mine off w/ huge tire tread in the road, did not have time to react as there was a truck in front of me, Did not have time to look if someone was in my blind spot. Not only did it tear my air dam off it busted fog light and dented in front quarter panal.
At least no one was hurt.
Now for new splitter, paint job, and euro fog lights. Damn I was hoping to postpone this for a while.

I am about to pull the trigger on a splitter for my 968 from Carneval. If this project has traction though I can wait.

DrZ1, PM sent.
Yes, no 968 splitters for quite some time... maybe if all goes well though.
I did some work with samples, and everything is going well. I'm still trying to figure out the best casting method. box casting won't work too well, so i might try some rotocasting or brush on materials.
I'm still working on it guys, I'll keep you updated!
and i'll still need a test subject.

Has kurt got himself another 951 or is he salvaging his fire damaged car?
Kurt if you are still here are you going to purse this project if so drop me a PM as I can help if opting for a (rapid tool low volume) injection moulding polypropylene route which Mazda addopted with great success for the old FD3S. There unit was made in 2 halfS - A left side and a right side and joined in the middle which is the best way forward and helps keep mould costs down!
I was sorry to hear about your car
