245's fit well on an 8.

I am also Kansas City (Lees Summit). I have lots of wheels and tires, You can always try some for fit if you like. I have 8's and 10's with 245's and 285's mounted right now.

I also have a pair of 8.5CCW,s ET46 with 245's on, you could also try those.

I have replicas and for the money they are great, however as everyone else mentioned the real deal is much lighter and stronger. If I wanted to blow the money, I would by the OE Wheel

I was curious what hollow spokes look like from the back compared to solid spokes. I found these pics:

Carrer 5 Spoke 996 lightweights for the rears, 993 hollows close behind. 996's hollows are slightly heavier than 993's.

For the fronts 993 hollows and Carrera 5 spokes are essentially the same with 996 hollows close behind. Stay away from any of the OEM/BBS two piece wheels like the Classsics or Look wheels they are very very heavy, very similar weight to the replica wheels. One of the heaviest are the RUF wheels.

Best wheels for weight and strength are the forged BBS, one piece LMS wheels. CCW's are similar weight to the BBS but are not as strong and they have a risk of leakage and are a pain to keep clean.

GT2/GT3 wheels aren't that light?

I was considering GT3 wheels before I purchased mine. Granted, I decide to go with what I have because I would have paid $1600 for the GT3 rims alone.

Hmmm, I have to say the fakies are tempting. All Im really looking for is aesthetics here. Its a daily driver, very rarely romped on hard, even. I have a set 0f 16" 928 wheels, that are currently on it. If I beat the cheapies to hell, doesnt really matter....their cheap and I can just put the 928's back on. What would be required to fit these wheels: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m32
to my 951? Do 18"'s fit ok on 951's? I take it ill need a low profile tire.

They would fit the rear with 285 tires. You would struggle to get them on the front. 8's with 225 and a 50 offset work best. You can also get 245 tires on the 8's but sometimes they rub depending on tire type and camber your running.

These would be a better bet.

I can put a set of OEM solid spokes and Turbo Script center caps together for not too much more.

I have a set of 996 hollows for sale 18X8 and 18X11 for sale, but they are a lot more expensive than solids.

Richard- Have you tried those 18X11's on your late offset car? No go, right?

Thanks

Yes I raced on them with 295's with a slight rub on the side wall on full compression. 285's on the street or not as lowered would have been fine.

I keep getting sets to use as my street wheels but then end up selling them. I typically run 16's on the street for the added softness of the taller side walls and less risk of pothole damage. I am going to be installing 993 rotors which means I have to use 17's or larger, so I am selling all my 16" wheels as well.

996's dont clear the front dust caps, so you have to space or run without caps. I prefer the look of the 996 over the 993, but they are a heavier wheel and don't fit as well, plus the 11's are illegal in the stock class.

993 hollows are hard to beat and fit perfect. I run 295's on the 993 10's so the 996 don't provide any real benefit, other than looks

This whole thread has made me want to sell my twists (I just picked them up for track rims) and get some CCWs for the track...

It never ends does it?

when I got my solid spoke 993 turbo twists I realized that the twists aren't symmetrical on each side, being compulsive, this bummed me out a bit. lol
