Default Hood keeps popping open!

My hood is giving me headaches, it keeps popping open when I go over a bump on the highway or when I get up to 100mph, it's a pain and I just got a new cable a year ago, any suggestions?

1. push down on spring with right hand
2. loosen locknut with 13mm wrench in left hand
3. release spring
4. turn entire assembly contra-clockwise a suitable amount
5. push down on spring
6. tighten locknut
7. mutter to self that ST is the man

Bring it up here - I'll do it.

Seriously, that is the procedure.
So now you must loosen that nut.
Try some PB blaster, or that Kroil stuff.

The pin won't turn because its all one piece - you must loosen the nut first.
Now don't come back here with a "yeah but", or you get the Hosrom award, dude.

Ok, I'm gonna spray something on it and use the vice grips, thanks for the valuable steps!

Default Think I fixed it

It was really tight, but I did the steps and turned it like 3 times counterclockwise and retightened it, then took it for a spin, it didn't pop up, but the hood does appear to be a little more loose shut, either way I'm gonna drive it home and hopefully it will remain shut the whole 17 mile drive. Hope it works, thanks for the input fellas!

i have one if you need one thats not all rusted up. sounds like you need to retighten it a turn or so.
do like the ROCK - pull the whole thing. The wind will hold it shut while your driving!

I think I'm gonna leave it like this and if it doesn't pop up all the way home, I will tighten it as you suggested. I also ordered the hood rubber bushings that I noticed aren't on there, two on each side, maybe that will help hold the hood comfortably. Will the wind really hold it shut? It's funny, I read about someone here who had their hood open up and break their windshield going 30mph. Mine has opened up several times between 70 and 100mph and it's never even come close to going up!

ever heard of the venturi effect? Rock pulled his hood latch thinking the wind would hold it down- nope- went through the windshield. If the hood pops up w/ the latch on it has a safety catch- thats why its never flown up all the way.

I was JK about the wind holding it down, I am keeping the latch on, hopefully the bushings will let it sit better...

Well, I went home and halfway it popped up again, so I don't know what else to do, the hood is perfectly centered and the pin goes directly straight into the bottom latch...
