ok so here goes- i sold a clutch to another rennlister which i believed was in good condition- measured it out and it was between 8.7-9mm thickness. He gets it and looks like even though the disc is plenty thick, the rivots are nearing the surface of the disc. Any reason this would be so- and what should i do about this? I cant afford to refund any more parts since fedex has been breaking stuff and now this- im like $300 in the hole- guess im screwed.
oh and i mis read the guys whole email so i guess i stuck my foot in my mouth before...

Looks good to me? I think you did an accurate job describing the parts, and based on past experiences that you and other buyers (including myself) have had, id say you were probably more than plesant to deal with.
Now if this warrants a refund? Probably not.
It all comes down to if you want to be seen as a customer service friendly person, or not.
I dont think youre running a business, so I dont think this should warrant a refund. Because someone might be having buyers remorse, and just wants a way out of it.
This is why you always see peoples feedback on Ebay as 99.8%. Theres always the one unhappy person that doesnt get what they want. Thats just a fact of life.

Well of course it had been installed before but you didn't say otherwise did you? If the thickness of the disc is in question you have included pic's and measured it yourself so it's hard to argue that you've done anything wrong at all. What was this guy expecting differently? New in a box?

If the buyer has not seen a 944 clutch disc before, I can see where he might think the disc would be worn out as there is not much material before you get to the rivits on a new disc.
It is not like brake pads where you start with a lot of material.

That's exactly what's going on here.

well- he just sent me a pic of the disc and its obviously something going on with it. The rivots are right near the edge of the disc in a couple spots but the rest of them have plenty of depth. I guess i'll end up refunding afterall. This sucks, for both of us.
and the part he was referring to being ever installed was the new pilot bearing- yes it was brand new and i guess it got dirty in the box. Damn what a bad day.
