Luis,

Do you know what width the wheels are on your turbo. I was told by Porsche that they did not put wider rims on the car due to the open top, but that could be just here in the US.

Yes, the stock Turbo Cab wheels are actually wider than those on the S2 cab. Both are 16" cast Design 90, but the S2 has 7" fronts and 8" rears, while the Turbo Cab has the M030 7.5" fronts and 9" rears.

For some reason, Porsche didn't think the 951 should fit the 965 Cup 1 style wheels they equipped the 965, 928 GTS and M030 968, but I think these wheels look best on the car.

Luis- your's appear to be design 90's, whereas the Turbo S came w/Club Sports- I'm wondering why they would do this, since your's is a turbo too...? I know the S2 cabs had D-90's, but then, as you said, they had a narrower rear. The Turbo S had 7" front & 9" rear, although many people say it's a 7.5, they never made them that size. Evidently, they did make a 7.5 in the D-90, though. I recently found a cool webpage that shows a lot of the Porsche wheels, offsets, & wheel #'s, etc.... http://www.944racing.de/reload.php?u...ngewichte.html

Always nice to see new pics of your car :-)

Interesting, my father's 951 cab (sold new in Sweden) does not have insulation and a previous co-worker's 951 cab (imported from Germany) did not either, but I can't remember if I saw any traces of insulation removed or not.

Strange. Both Tommy's and mine came with it. Then again, both are Swiss cars, so maybe it's a Swiss spec.

I also noticed your father's had a 3rd brake light, which neither of ours has nor the one featured in Peter Morgan's book.

Hi Robby. Only the 1988 Turbo S and 1989 Turbo cars had the forged Club Sports.

The 1990 and 1991 cars, both cabrios and coupés, were all fitted with the M030 Design 90 cast wheels. Only visible difference from the D90s on the S2 is that they're wider: 7.5" fronts and 9" rears. The M030 D90 wheels were also fitted on 944S2 cars with the M030 package.

Good to hear from you.

Yes that's true, I've never seen the 3rd brake light on any other cars except the one's sold new in Sweden.

Do you have the small extra muffler between the cat and the rear muffler?
That should be general '91 spec but interesting to know if the Swiss car's had anything different.

Luis- thanks for the info- I never knew that. Good to see you too :-)

Duke- I was told, years ago, that the mufflers for Swiss cars were slightly different due to more stringent noise laws. I never verified this. On a side note- have you gotten around to taking anymore pics of that rainforest green beauty? If so, please PM me & I'll send my addy back...

Actually, the 8" and 9" forged Club Sports came on the 928GTS (and maybe other 928 models); they both have 928 part numbers. Only the 7" forged club sport fitted on the front of the '88 - '89 Turbo S has a 951 part number.

Regarding the hood insulation, it has already been covered, but that was my thought - that the Swiss spec cars were different due to noise regulations. There is also a different transmission code for S2 Swiss cars, as the oil cooler was made standard there and rumor is the final drive was different also for noise regulations.

The Swiss S2 transmission code is because the whole transmission is encapsulated in a 2-piece housing made of some synthetic material with noise absorbing material on the inside. There is also an external oil cooler installed.
If you think access is difficult when removing the transmission - try it on one of these........ask me how I know....
No difference in final drive.

Cheers,
Tommy

Sure, but I was only referring to 944 Turbo cars. No forged wheels on the late 951s, cabrio or coupés.

So, I wonder what the part number is for a Swiss spec muffler for these cars?

The 7.5"/9" D90 as seen on '90/'91 944 turbo were also used on the '90/'91 928 S4 and GT. Only difference explaining the different part numbers is RDK sensors for wheels used on 928.
M030 equipment as of '90 only included the shock absorbers - brakes and wheels were unchanged over cars without M030.

The final exhaust line with the small extra muffler is a known feature of the '90/'91 944 turbo.
