Really?
Please tell me where you live and the price in your currency for a new 997tt.

I would guess in Australia that they cost in excess of $350k and just to sober you up early on a Sunday morning ST, our $ is worth about 0.93c of yours so that's how scary it is to buy a Porsche down here! Also why it costs about $30k for a half decent 951....unmodified. Not many college students driving them down under that's for sure!

So where does this gouging take place?
That's what I want to know.
Porsche is not charging 3 times more because they dislike Australia, are they?

Yeah, according to a friend of mine at the dealership, they generally end up around $380,000 by the time they're out the door. Porsche really seems to be doing you guys in the US some big favours, i guess because you're such a big market... even accross the Atlantic I think you are still close to half price.

Yet professionals are paid so much better in the US. Hmm, tempting...

$380k huh Scott, amazing. You'd really have to want one of those puppies to fork that out.
Yeah and not to forget our speed limit is 35mph in any built up area and max 65mph on major hwys. Not like we don't have the space down here to crank it up just a smidge from that. If they catch you speeding they can just about shoot you, bring you back to life, and then shoot you again!

Up until earlier this year they still had un restricted zones throughout most of NT... had done for years, so much so that vehicles from O/S were tested there to see how they performed at top speed and extremes of climate... Our stupid current Northern Territory Labor government decided to abolish that.

There is far too much emphasis on revenue raising here... all said to be for our own good!

Speak to NZ on this. They have much kinder import rules and you see primo Jap cars that are only a few years old for low $$. You could easily pick something really hot up for not much money out of NZ and put it on a ship. That's if you have any shortage of that sort of stuff in the US.

GTR would depend on the series etc... most of them are here as small volume imports brought in second hand from Japan which is allowed because Nissan didn't bring most of the models here themselves... that makes it quite a different market.

Cars are geenrally more expensive here, but not usually 3 x as much.

Revenue raising?
So some of this ridculous profit then goes to NZ correct?

That would make more sense.

I think we're all a bit tired and emotional here. haha. No I was saying that ST should talk to NZ if he's interested in some piece of Jap car as they're much cheaper in New Zealand than in Australia. Jim check your atlas. We're not quite the same country. Not even joined to us like Canada is to you.
