Default Exhaust recommendations welcome.

I'd like to hear some opinions on the best performance exhaust set up for the 951. I just purchased a true 3" turbo downpipe & v-clamp from sfr as a starting point & I had already purchased a B&B test-pipe on ebay because it was a great deal.

I'm not sure if the B&B test-pipe will mate up to the 3" turbo pipe - but I realize that the inner diameter of the B&B is slightly smaller, so it's probably useless..? Do I have to use the sfr true 3" test-pipe?? Is that the only one available?

I have a k27 turbo & Autothority hotwire MAF & chips on my 88 951 - would like to keep increasing the power / torque while remaining completely reliable. I've looked at the sfr, fabspeed, ghl etc, but I have no experience with these companies. My priorities are as follows:
  • Quality. Will pay the extra...
  • Obviously more power / less back pressure
  • test-pipe is a must - I live in MI, so no testing
  • nice sound - but not too loud / uncomfortable (listened to a few on youtube, but you can't rely on the audio for accuracy)
  • appearance - I like the "look" of the fabspeed, but least important
I would greatly appreciate any advice. I did search the forum for similar subjects, though nothing really taught me much.

Sfr downpipes can only be used on their true 3in testpipe. Also you bought their vband downpipe but your running a k27? The vband downpipe is for a t4 conversion

Well, I had no idea that the true 3" v-band was for a Garrett T4 conversion ONLY... Nothing that I read stated that. I guess you learn as you go along.

So, should I use the B&B test-pipe, or something else?? I've read good thing about B&B but i want the best for the car...

If you want to use a 3in downpipe you have to get an sfr or lindsey system. Did you buy the downpipe new? If so see if you can exchange it for the right one.

I can return, but is the 3" turbo downpipe worth the extra cost? Should I just use the stock downpipe & go with the B&B test pipe?
