Default *Emergency* Clutch problem.!

I was driving home and my clutch stayed depressed and I pulled it up and now I cannot engage the clutch, I can't even push it down. Had to drive home and change gears without using the clutch. Im pretty sure it's the clutch slave cylinder. Where is this located and how do I get to it? 786 294 5676 Call me is you can provide help! - Mike

The cluth slave cylinder is located above the starter.
Your symptoms do sound like a bad slave...

bad slave or master they act exactly the same. Typically you will be able to see fluid leaking from one or the other when it fails.

Slave is right above the starter, starter must be removed to access it (disconnect battery FIRST!) and bleeding the clutch system really sucks.

What sucks worse than bleeding the clutch, is installing a new clutch master with everything else in place.

Yea, I just did this little ritual last week. Some notes, 1) Paragon ships quick. 2) Just one event like this will easily pay the cost of a power bleeder. 3) Old german cars WILL telegraph failures but ya have to be listening - if the clutch is acting wierd, expect a big problem and of course it will come at the worst possible moment. 4) The car has to be at least near level (not nose high) to get fluid to flow down the blue tube. The master is actually easier to get out than it looks if you disconnect the smog vent stuff and fold it back out of the way. Bruce

replace the line between the master and slave when you do the job. It has a rubber section that does leak after some time. Paragon has these too.

.... The "big tube" is the torque tube. You will want to get that sucker out of the way as much as possible first. Inspect the area just ahead of where the trnsmission would be. There you should see the crash impact tabs on the torque tube. These prevent a shifting of major components in the event of a crash. To move the torque tube, you must first rotate it, until it us upside down, so that the impact tabs wont catch. Make sure your gear shift lever is removed before trying this. The bellhousing should just pull off. Are you sure you have everything disconnected... speed and refrence sensors etc, clutch fork shaft?.. check clarks garage

Thread an M8 x 150 mm. bolt into the release lever shaft on clutch bellhousing. With vice grips attached to end of bolt, tap the vice grips with a hammer to remove shaft. Note that a shorter bolt can be used, but I needed the extra leverage to remove shaft. (Refer to Haynes Manual Chapter 8, pg. 136.)

this is where im at right now..i got this from clarks garage..but im not understanding this i know where this is but i dont understand wat im suppose to be doin here.. ive werked on many cars but i have neva seen suttin like this

Is there any way to attach a slide hammer to the shaft? just a thought.
