Default x-post from OT: RRIII History of Porsche Cars Display

Got this in the mail today:

>>It is my pleasure to inform you that your 1989 944 turbo has been selected to be in the History of Porsche Cars Display at Rennsport Reunion III. Please plan on having your car in place by Friday November 2nd at 9:00am. The entrance gate attendant will have a list showing the names of the people that will be displaying their cars. When you arrive at the gate, give the person your name and mention that your car is in the History of Porsche Cars Display.

As a way of thanking you for displaying your car, the Rennsport Reunion Committee will present you with a very nice memento during the weekend. We all look forward to seeing you and your car at this historic event.

To confirm your participation, please respond to this notification letter.

Respectfully,

xxxxxxxxxxxx Rennsport Reunion III, History of Porsche Cars Display committee<<

It's only a little 944 turbo, but she's all mine and in pretty darn good shape for an 18 year old car. Oh, still less than 30K on the clock too.

(BTW, the Speedlines will be coming off the car in favor of the OEM club sports).

Congrats, and that is a beautiful car. My first 951 was much like it only 40k more miles.

Congrats! I'm looking forward to seeing it in person! My Dad and I are bringing down his black on black '89 turbo for the weekend; it's good to know there will be a pristine example on display representing my favorite color and year

WOW! So how did they get your name for the display? Did a judge go over the car?

Congrats, you're making us all proud.

That's great, congrats! How about some more pictures w/interior too? Also good that the clubsports are going back on, anyone can put on aftermarket wheels but your original wheels are, well, original.

I had to submit a "resume" of the car. It isn't PCA national concours material, but it is very clean, very straight, and as soon as I get the new rubber to shod the club sports, she'll be 100% original again. PCA was looking for cars that best represented what Porsche had to offer. The selection criteria weighed heavily on OEM, right from the dealer lot condition. There may be a ton of nicer 951's running around (many of them right here on Rennlist), but how many of them are 100% stock?

Thanks Kevin.

Once I finish cleaning up the engine (new belts, overflow tank, etc) I'll be sure to take photos of everything. The interior is still as new, with a working Porsche CD-1 and working equalizer for the 10 speaker stereo. Seats are in great shape, carpet has no discernable wear.

The wheels that are on the car in the photo are original Speedline for Porsche wheels. Too bad that I have to take them off the car, because they look great. I guess I'll throw them on my Cabriolet... Anyone need a set of design 90's?
