Ski: I believe that is why you had no problems with the track car, having solid mounts and all, which means less flex/twist. Unlike the OEM with rubber that allows some flexing/twisting.......

Personally, i never experienced a broken halfshaft, but the bolts came off once.........but that was a fluke.......new bolts, star bolting pattern and a torque wrench made mine trouble free for 2 years now.........

oem allows a whole lot more than "some" flex/twist, I lifted my tranny in the bar thingy that goes over it and mounts to chassis, it would sway everywhere!

So true.. I just want to keep on lying to myself a bit longer

Anyway, I think I'll fab up something similar this winter but add a layer of rubber to eliminate any excessive vibrations.

yeh i can relate Duke i transended fabrication at work a few years ago but just got a new TIG and have a 400hr "make" list
i think if the trans is moving a lot that outer mount will break it needs 2 bolts is there 2 make more sense to weld the pad eye to the cross member.

i agree about the outer mount. The original design sat much lower and had very little leverage on the outer mount. I had to lengthen the eyelet to gain clearance fore the large heim joint end. That said, there should be little pressure on the mount- its really just a stabilizer. The outer mount is also made out of some heavy duty stuff so hopefully it can withstand the small amt. of pressure being put on it. A second hole would be great- i was just trying to fab up something that bolts on and requires no welding or drilling to install. If this proves to be a problem i'll drill another hole and make it necessary to put a second bolt in the outer mount.

I have a solid mount, but Im considering this, imho engine moves and solid is just bad, to much strength going into something 100% solid == not god. and I have very sturdy engine mounts (uprated ls1 kit stuff from RH) but running solid enginemounts as well is just plain bad
