That is incorrect. An MSD box will continue to fire up to 15,000rpm.

The MSD 6 Series produces full power multiple sparks for each firing of a plug. The number of multiple sparks that occur decreases as rpm increases, however the spark series always lasts for 20° of crankshaft rotation. Above 3,000 rpm there is simply not enough "time" to fire the spark plug more than once, so there is only one powerful spark.

Sure, but the single spark is much more powerful then the stock ignition. I would be willing to bet the wasted spark has less energy then an MSD box.

I've heard from several good sources that new stock ignition components is all you need.
If the plug fires at your current hp level, you're not going to see any gains with an upgraded ignition system.
Again, if you don't significantly open up the plug gap, I can't see any other ignition system giving you any gains.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
