Default Next engine mod?

Thinking of getting a wasted spark system or a new cam.
Which would you go for next?

Thanks

Get a JME cam while you can(before he retires for good) or one from evil944t.

Tim, I would say for your application to go with the cam. After that, then I would consider the VR Wasted Spark, which you will feel a night and day difference, trust me! Anyway that's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input.
A wasted spark system would work with any engine, would a cam work with a displacement increase down the road?

The factory cam is very good, especially when you have a quik spooling turbo.

I would stick with the ignition.

I have proven myself that the stock distributor ignition is lacking even at low power levels.
Even with semi-sequential injection, you will gain around 20hp at the wheels at only 300 rwhp with just the 2 channel wasted spark.

I don't get it.
If you have spark (not a miss) at the right time; what else can you do.
The only way I could see upgraded ignition giving you more power would be if you could retard timing with the stronger (maybe, a wide gap) spark and still have maximum force on the piston shortly after TDC.

I would go for the ignition too. I could get a cam for you but you should match the cam to the head and to the turbo. If you don't, it could cause an ill effect. A drop in cam is not always a good solution.

I've seen some people using the MSD ignition systems. What do they give you over and above a stock or wasted spark system?

MSD only works below um... 3500 RPM? Around there. It might help with highway MPG.

It depends what your planning for the car. If you eventually want a standalone i would scratch the wasted spark. Then again if you eventually want another engine i would scratch the cam. You have to really think about your ideal setup to avoid spending money twice.
