Default Dyno results = someone needs some power

Some friends and I rented out a dyno for the day. We got seven cars on the rack, and took video of each that I will edit and post in a couple days.

Here's my chart. Completely stock engine with LR 3" straight through exhaust. I think the exhaust is the only mod I have done to the car that would alter the hp numbers. I am hoping to do some power mods this winter.

Since this is the first time I have had the car dynoed, I am not sure how this looks. Anything seem out of whack?

Sorry for the crappy pic, I don't have a scanner...

First, I'm not an expert.

Good torque, looks like the wastegate is working fine.

Better than what I did in stock form!

Numbers are pretty close to what Porsche claims for a stock unit .....

Looks like a stock car to me
Raised boost and a little leaner mixture will bring more power.

The 911 guys were drooling over the torque curve. They wondered how I could pull them coming out of a turn (then I'd get left behind farther down the straight), I guess now they know why.

I guess that's good considering it's 19 years old?

Yeah, I think some Christmas stocking stuffers will be in the plans.

Looks good. Start with a good set of chips -- they will transform the car for very little money.

+1
And a wastegate in Dual-Port mode, IMO.

For less than $2,000 you can add close to 80hp and tq. For a few hundred good chips will add about 40hp. You may not get caught in the straights then. Your dyno looks like a heathly stock motor. The stock K26 cars usually dyno at 180whp in good running condition.

That is the same type of dyno I have used HUNDREDS of times for my 951 and many more on other 951's, I will go ahead and consider myself an expert.

The numbers are very close to stock, and I believe that if you had factory boost at redline with the exhaust, you should see about 15-20 at the wheels HP, and a little more torque.
Doublecheck your boost levels with an accurate guage.

Are you thinking I'm losing boost pressure? I know I get a full 10psi on an Auto Meter gauge mid-range. I'm not sure I ever watched the boost level all the way up to redline though, so I'm not sure if/where it drops off. How much boost should I be getting at redline? I will pay attention next time I take it out.

Something odd happened during the first pull. Just before hitting the rev limiter, there was a small puff of white or gray smoke that came from the right front of the engine, right around the oil filter/distributor cap area. It was real quick, just a small puff, no sound, probably somewhere around 6k rpm and didn't do it on the second pull. We never did figure out what that was, or even what it could be. Any ideas?

Maybe it'll show up on the video, I'll be getting the camera back tomorrow.

the stock boost control system doesn't allow the car to hold .75 bar all the way to redline, thats why XSboost made more horsepower, he's holding the boost to redline with his manual controller

I'm also using the original 19 year old wastegate with 95k miles.

But you are kicking butt on the track and having fun. And for now, that is all that matters! You can slowly do your mods over the winter as you said.

Yeah, that's what I thought - you are a little low.
I would just leave it for a road course car with the stock turbo.

I think you got a little sneaky exhaust gas past the #1 gasket, or a crack in the headers if they are originals.
