88 S trans
88 S torque tube
89 S spindles and hubs
89 S rear trailing arms

Ok.....my superior statement is brash. What the heck, I'll stir it up a little with Lart. So go ahead "S" guys take your best shot.

I say superior 86 because there are so many aftermarket parts that are far superior to S parts. What aftermarket parts do I have that are superior to S parts you might ask? Ball Bearing turbo, Tial waste gate, electronic boost control, larger injectors, MAF, s.s. 4" exhaust, spherical bearings, motorsport control arms, Moton shocks, Big Red brakes, Centerforce clutch, etc.

The above list of "S" parts that I have collected, are just about the only "S" parts that are upgrades. As you can see, the list is SMALL. So "S" guys, keep your car stock and I will fly past your "S" car with a big smile on my face!

I do like the Silver Rose paint though............

But an "S" car that is guards red??? Sorry, but that is just a very lightly modded 86 951. 30 hp....woo hoo. And you can KEEP that butt ugly pink check cloth interior!

Yes "S" cars have some historical value in stock form. I really do think that they should be preserved in stock form. But they are really just the German version of SLOW market imporvement to boost sales. I am reminded of the old cartoon that pictures two vultures sitting on a branch......one says "Screw waiting, I'm gonna kill something". Lart figured this out long ago.
" I have to thank vultures Boost Feen and Ted Wright for their S kills."

Does that mean skills or 5 KILLS!

The "S" doesn't stand for superior but for "Sissy", the fastest 951 aren't "S" check the top 10 list, I don't see a "Sissy" there.
Lart you are too funny!

I like "S" cars. I like that their tranny and spindles are in my 86. What I do not like is how the Germans produce a "so called" limited edition, special performing car like the 944 Turbo S, people pay more for it, and it falls short. The Turbo S falls short because they promised only 1,000 of the cars would be made ever, and they actually made 1,635 in 88. And as most know, all turbos made from 89 on had the "S" specification, or another 4,989 more. Which in reality totals 6,624 rare "S" models. And performance......like I said 250 hp or 30 hp over standard, woo hoo. The way Porsche went about the special "S" car was more about next generation minimal advancement and marketing , than it was truly a "special" car.

Now if you are looking for a truly "Special" 944 model, you only need to look as far as the 968 turbo S. Made in '93 & '94 with 305 hp, six speed trans, big reds, 235x18 front, 265x18 rear, lowered 20mm, harder suspension, front chin spoiler, rear adjustable wing, 110 lbs lighter. Total of 14 made. Now that is a "special" car. What Porsche missed with the 944 turbo S, they more than made up with the 968 Turbo S.

Or as Lart would say........the 968 turbo S makes a 944 turbo S look like a sissy car.

And as I would say.......My 86 is buy far closer to the 968 turbo S in performance than your stock "special" S is. Of course, in no way as valuable as either, as funny as that sounds.

KILLS: as in "the parting out of or eternal dismemberment" of Turbo S vehicles.

found this on ebay ad...

In 1988 only 4068 944 Turbos were made.
Out of 4068 944 Turbos only 1635 were Turbo "S" modles in the world.
Out of 1635 Turbo "S" modles, only 718 were sent to the USA.
Out of 718 sent to the USA, only 36 were painted Zermatt Silver
Stock Turbos had 217HP, and Turbo "S" modles have 250 HP
Turbo "S" has larger turbine
Turbo "S" has larger front brakes (928GT brakes)
Turbo "S" has large M030 sway bars
Turbo "S" has threaded body front shocks
Limited slip transmission with cooler
For more information on the Turbo "S" - Try serch word 944 Turbo "S".

Here is a color breakdown of all the Turbo "S" modles:

Turbo-S Color Breakdown
The available information concerning the colors of the vehicles with the "S" option is somewhat sparse. According to Morgan's book, 718 vehicles with the "S" package entered the US. A separate, unconfirmed source (gary951s@mindspring.com), has provided these color statistics. They total to 715 vehicles, which is very close to Morgan's numbers for the US (718 in above chart).

Dan,
That information is from the unoffical homepage of the 944 Turbo S.

Cool thing is my Red 944 Turbo S is more RARE than a silver rose car!

Created by Jeffrey LaCombe, an RPI grad and college friend of mine. I wonder what ever happened to him...

So is there such a thing as a 1988 Turbo S in Ocean Blue, or is that bogus information?

I don't know, Rolex. I don't know where Jeffrey got that data from. His car was a Silver Rose -- one of the first I got acquainted with.

I didn't realize Porsche was using that color that early. I think I've only seen it on 993s and later.

Morgan's Book lists "Q2 Ocean Blue metallic" as a Special Color for 1987 and 1988 -- whereas Clark's Garage has listed "Nautic Metallic". I'd bet it's just a different translation from German. Nautic is much darker blue, than say the Cobalt Blue you saw in the other thread.

You could be right, but either way (if that chart is right and who knows), I wouldn't want to let Luis get his hands on it. Let him buy all the common colors and do his Gordon Gekko on those ones instead!
