They are saying that because with all the advances in technology today, if you wan't your Turbo S keeping up with the new stuff you'll end up switching out all the old stuff. You can do the same thing to an 86 and pay less overall for the car. I still like my S tho

That is a Turbo S.

I can see the stiffener plate right under the powersteering tank. It run parallel to the headlight motor

Hey! I like my interior. And mind you --- that's burgundy, not pink.

Totally agree with you otherwise, though. I keep my Silberossa car completely stock for historical value. Well, except the radio -- that had to go.... I won't get rid of it until I see one in the US with a lower VIN (or earlier manufacture date).

No argument that an '86 will be the most cost effective option if you want to put on Stoptech brakes, a roll cage, new suspension and make massive horse power. But, in stock trim, I don't see how anyone can believe that the S, with it's stiffer body, bigger brakes, firmer suspension and modest HP boost *isn't* a superior car...

I'm not saying it is the car for everyone, but I do think, when compared apples to apples with the other 944 lineup, it is superior to its predesessors.

You're right. If you compare a stock 86 to a stock 88 or 89 S then it is a superior car. But most of the people on here don't buy a 951 and leave it stock for very long (there are exceptions). I love my car just the way it is and don't really care to change anything as far as suspension, and everything I do to the car is reversable and I keep the origional stuff. If someone is looking for a car to turn into a dedicated track car tho, then I believe searching for an S would be a waste of time and money.

The "S" doesn't stand for superior but for "Sissy", the fastest 951 aren't "S" check the top 10 list, I don't see a "Sissy" there. lol.

Those who buy a "Sissy" keep it mostly "Stock"

Yeah, keeping it mostly stock gives us money for make-up, Britney Spears concert tickets and other sissy stuff.

If i want it to make money selling a Porsche I'll be selling 911's, as we all know 951 prices are low. The difference between a S and a non S sometimes is insignificant.

Wow, you're hardcore -- race on Christmas even!

I only manage about a dozen days a year, now that I have kids, but I used to do 30+ days a year with my sissy, I mean stock, turbo S.

The silverrossa came out in mid '88 to give tribute to the turbo cup cars used on the track, there were only like 1,000 units made and the '89 turbos were all S models without the S label, they came standard with suspension, turbo and all options included...
