Default Brake Bleeders: Mitiyvac vs Motive

I need to purchase a brake bleeding tool, but cannot decide on which one to get. I only heard great things about Motive pressure bleeder, and since you add brake fluid in it, you will always get fluid in the system and prevent air.

The Mityvac is different, you need to keep an eye on the brake fluid level, make sure you don't accidentally bring in air into the system.

And since we know bleeding the clutch is a serious PITA, which tool did you get, recommend and comment?

PS: I am leaning towards the motive pressure unit.

I borrowed ehall's Motive unit and it was fantastic. I know nothing about the Mityvac, but you definitely won't go wrong with the Motive.

I have used a motive bleeder each track day for 6 or 7 years. I bleed the brakes each morning on my 944 spec car just to keep the pedal sharp. Great tool.

I have both and the mighty vac........ well, it just blows and isn't in the same league. Get the Motive. I use it to bleed brakes & clutches as well as fill diff cases and trannies.

Haven't found a use for it in the bed room yet but there's still hope.

what do you do with the excess fluid in the reservior after bleeding? with the motive, i've always had to syphon off the excess so i can put the top back on after the job.

i have the motive and it worrks awsome i juse the migthyvac which is allot faster than the motive. however with the migthyvac you need you have the compressor and you need to have any eye on the level. And with the motive you can always take it with like if you go to the track you can always bleed the brake unlike with the mightyvac. my 2 pennies

if you pull the pump off before you pull the hose from the resevoir, it siphons it off itself- for the most part.

I chose the Motive for the reason that when I flsuhed my clutch & brakes, I didnt want the hassle of getting out of under the car to confirm if I had fluid in the reservoir. I just filled the Motive with 2 liters and made sure is was level, then pumped it up to 15 psi...no problems. Rounds 2 starts again soon as I just found out my slave is shot.

Motive + the little jar that has the wire attached to it so you can hang it and put the tube on the bleeder.

Hos,
I have both and don't use the Mityvac any more.

Original,

When you get the last wheel bled, tip the Motiv so the pick tube is out of the fluid then bleed some more until the reservoir is at an acceptable level.

Lou
