Another Wide Band O2 Thread
I am ordering a wide band tomorrow and am considering several options. I prefer a 2 1/16" round guage with sweep LED's for the pod. I would like to data log and want a graphical analysis on the laptop. I only need AFR, as I am not planning to expand to EGT etc. Any suggestions? The ZT-2 seems very popular and has the laptop display I prefer, but I do not like the LCD as it appears hard to read, gives no trend analysis, and will not fit in my empty pod. Also, I performed several searches and found some to note the ZT-2 display froze at 14.7 due to bad sensors. In some cases, in just a few days of install. Any suggestions? Affordable is the key.
Also, I spoke with a well known Rennlister and was told they just mount the WBO2 sensor in the factory bung with no negative results. Thoughts?

I like the AEM 4100 and I'd like to get one sometime soon.
Easier and less stressful to just install it on the mid pipe on the upper side where it bends.

Check out the Innovate Motorsports LC-1 wideband sensor with XC-16 AFR gauge. Got one waiting to go into the 951. Two of my friends use them in there modified Evo9 and WRX and are very nice. They have both a LED sweep which is nice for quick visual glances and a LED readout in the center.

I second the Innovate LC-1 controller and XD-1 gauge. It fits in a 2 1/16" gauge pod and has a sweep LED pointer and numerical readout. The colors of the LED's are completely changeable with a laptop. Very easy to read and accurate!
It also has a peak & hold function and alarm function but in order to use these features parameters must bet set by throttlle position, rpm, kPa, etc and you would need the LMA-4 controller hooked up and that is a couple hundred more dollars.

i mounted my wbo2 back where the cat would be if i had one near the bend- im running a zt2 w/ no problems for close to a year. You can get one w/o the lcd for laptop only, and i think they were working on a round gauge for it when i bought my lcd.

Does the AEM come with software allowing you to data log with a laptop? I really like the software display for the ZT-2, but hate the gauge. I need to be around $350 or less.

I should mention the Innovate wideband has a record feature so you can playback the readings after a run. If you want to data log to the computer you need to get the LMA-3 AuxBox (retail is $250) which allows a bunch of other data logging options such as boost, RPM, EGT...and a bunch of other stuff. The actual gauge kit is $400 but i was able to get it for $360 from a friend who is a dealer. I am sure you can find the same kind of deal online somewhere. If not, i can maybe order one through him and mail it to you, probably $370-375 total (with shipping).

Im not 100% sure, but i tihnk you can connect it to a laptop for real time datalogging without any other devices, but im not to sure about that feature.

I have the innovate in my car and one spare I use for tuning other's cars. easiest to use IMO. you can put it all up on the laptop or use the rec button on the gauge. The aem is the only one I have used and I didn't care for it.

I have the Innovate’s LC-1 controller, which has two programmable outputs. One is the typical 0-5V output for data-logging and the other I have programmed to match my narrow band Autometer AFR gauge, which is nothing more than a linear voltmeter from 0-1V.
I calibrated the meter (with a 1.5V AA battery, a potentiometer and a volt meter) and programmed one of the LC-1 outputs so each LED on the gauge corresponds to a 0.5 AFR increment. Then I inserted a manual SPDT switch, so I can select monitoring either the narrowband of the broadband sensor.
I also have another manual SPST switch, which can disconnect the communication between the narrowband sensor and the DME. This is necessary for tuning at less than 60% throttle (normally closed loop).
