That seems like a fair price concidering it is real carbon fiber.
I don't have much experience, but would assume carbon would run a lot more then fiberglass.

The AIR splitter is the same price IIRC. Not a bad deal, but I agree it sticks out too far. WOuld it be that much stronger that fiberglass?

On a street car, doesn't the fiberglass make more sense as it is repairable/repaintable by an amateur in the driveway? Doesn't carbon fiber require a professional to repair?

Very good point....If you scrape it or crack fiberglass, you can fix it with a Pep Boys kit. With a CF rig, you can buy another one...

similar skill needed to fibrglass but to get the better strength you need the big pressure cooker (yeh autoclave) but they may not be pressure cooked in the first place . i think they are just molded . i say gruop buy and make sure of the thickness of the rear mounting flange .

CF and FG are basically the same, as far as working with, you could repair CF with FG, Now if you want to CF to be seen then theres no good way of fixing it with out making it obvious. You could make it look decnet but youd never getit just like new, as you could if you painted it.

I would be interested in using it for track days as an actual aerodynamic tool rather than the looks factor. Just not sure how quick and easy it would be to get on and off again?

Maybe we could do a group buy on both. If we buy a certain number of splitters, regardless of material, we get an X% discount. I want the look of raw carbon fiber, but am worried about repairability (is that a word?). Would the carbon fiber be less likely to need repairs due to greater strength?

the carbon isnt that expensive, its probably only about $15 bucks worth of carbon, im sure its not 100% Carbon. I doubt its much stronger as a whole part (than a woven FG version) , but if you damage a Fg version the Cf would break almost the same, its doubtful that youd damage its in a way where the FG would break but the CF would hold up. It would have to be about 10-15 layers of CF to make it decently strong. But then youd probably break your bumper instead!
